Ingredients You’ll Need to Make Coconut and Mango Smoothie
Coconut Milk
Either full-fat or low-fat coconut milk will work. Use full-fat if you’re going for a rich, decadent dessert, and opt for low-fat coconut milk when you’re up for something sweet but a bit lower in calories and fat.
Mango and Banana
Using frozen mango chunks gives this smoothie that really thick, creamy consistency that makes it perfect as a summertime treat. You can either buy frozen mango chunks, or freeze it yourself. However, if you can’t get your hands on frozen mango right now, you can use fresh mango and frozen banana instead.
If you use both frozen mango and frozen banana, the smoothie will turn out too thick and you’ll need to add some extra water.
If you use both fresh mango and banana, it’s best to add some ice cubes to chill and thicken the smoothie.
I like to use a fresh banana and frozen mango chunks, with no added ice, but you can totally make this recipe your own.
Ice or Ice Water
You can use ice water to thin the smoothie, especially if you’re using both frozen mango and banana. Or, add ice cubes to make an extra thick and refreshing smoothie.
Coconut and Mango Smoothie Variations
This 3-ingredient smoothie is delicious as is, but because both mango and banana have a relatively mild flavour, it can also serve as a great base for adding other fruits and veggies to the mix. Try mixing things up by adding one of the following:
- Strawberries or blueberries - fresh or frozen for a berry-er smoothie
- Pineapple or pineapple juice - you can use it to thin the smoothie
- Peach - another mild flavour that fits in really well and makes for a more interesting drink
- Spinach - for added nutrients and that healthy-looking green colour
- Avocado - for an even creamier smoothie
